Hysteria and other bollocks

Global warming and other bollocks.

Amidst the hysteria around Fukushima, leaving the real and amass victims of the quake and Tsunami in Japan to cold oblivion, two old British professors and writers came to my mind tonight. Professeurs Stanley Feldman and Vincent Marks, that wrote the remarkably titled book "Global warming and other bollocks" sure are under full control of the power of the English language and not hesitant to swim against the flow.
I mean who can put "bollocks" in a non-tabloid title without making fun of themselves? The preface of the book is so beautifully crafted that citing an excerpt should be enough to make you buy it. Link below.
Here is the citation:
"The idea that man is born into sin is as old as the story of Adam and Eve. It spawns the doomsday cults and the belief that only through repentance and self-denial can man aspire to redemption and save the world.
...
Fortunately, all the end-of-the-world cults have been proved wrong, but, undeterred by this abysmal record, they continue to echo a deep-seated, inherent fear that, unless men repents and his way of life, he will be instrumental in destroying his world."
In general, a business like the doomsday-cults, so poor in delivering results, would simply not exist anymore. But it seems to be catering a deeply rooted desire of people not seeming to care so much about actual facts.
Call it new religion if you like.
